For example, scale (the size of familiar subjects and how they relate to one another) is one way to convey depth and distance. There are several ways to enhance depth and create the illusion of a more three-dimensional image. Since photographs are two dimensional, it’s up to us as photographers to convey depth (or lack thereof) by controlling how the subjects in our frame compare to one another.
